Casper Beijst: Innovations in medical physics
Casper Beijst is a medical physicist and scientist at the department of radiotherapy of the UMC Utrecht. His research focuses on motion correction techniques for imaging and radiotherapy.
He is the leader of the molecular and motion reconstruction group. In recent years, he was awarded with an NWO OTP (2021), KWF PPS (2022), NWO LTP (2024) and EU IHI (2025) grant establishing a group of 6 (4 PhD students, postdoc, 1 MSc student).
He has an official double registration as a medical physicist both in the field of radiotherapy and radiology/nuclear medicine. The crossover in expertise allows him to bridge the gap between radiology and radiotherapy with the aim of improving imaging for therapy guidance
